’Mound of Creation’ refers to the Primeval Mound that was created by the Ogdoad, the eight gods of creation from ancient egyptian mythology. After the mound came the egg, from which the sun was hatched, allowing the process of life/creation to begin. The spiral formation emanating from the the egg featured on the front of the sculpture represents the Fibonacci sequence, which occurs throughout nature, from sunflowers and molluscs to DNA structure and spiral galaxies. It was carved in wood then cast in bronze.
